BUSINESS Giant Eagle is reinstituting a mask policy for all people in its stores – workers and customers – regardless of vaccination status.
The policy takes effect for Giant Eagle, Market District and GetGo employees beginning Wednesday, Aug. 4.
For customers, required mask wearing begins Friday, Aug. 6. Complimentary masks will be available.
“As we witness increases in positive COVID-19 cases across our communities and the country, we are reinstituting the wearing of face masks, cloth face coverings or face shields for Team Members and guests this week, inclusive of all vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals,” the company stated in a release issued just before midnight Monday.

The company cited in particular the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant.
“Through these and other efforts, we can all do our part to keep our communities healthy, our local businesses thriving and our students and teachers in the best possible position for the upcoming school year,” the company said in the release.
Curbside pickup and delivery service will continue.
